Flash Course offered

October 3, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - Emeril has BAM! The web has Flash!

Properly named Shockwave Flash, the software program was initially developed as a way to create small, fast-loading animations that could be used in web pages. Over the years, Flash has evolved into a full web page production tool that allows anyone to create interactive media ranging from animated logos to navigational controls and even entire web sites.

On Tuesday, Oct. 7, you can try your hand at this exciting program in a University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education course titled Flash taught at the Newnan Center in Newnan.

Flash MX will help you spice up your web site with its quick and powerful tools. On its sixth release, it is a mature application that is part web-authoring tool, part drawing package and part animation program.

“This is a basic Flash course, designed for those who have never tried the program before,” says Lauri Thompson, computer specialist for the Continuing Education Department. “Students can expect to learn the basics of creating shapes and employing colors, moving and manipulating shapes and images, inserting text and adding layers. In addition, we’ll create a frame-by-frame animation using Flash tools.”

The one-day course runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a break for lunch and is priced at $95 per person. Students should have basic computer skills, an understanding of the Internet and web browsers and a basic knowledge of the Windows operating system.
