African American Alumni Reunion rescheduled

October 22, 2004

CARROLLTON, GA - Due to Hurricane Ivan, the African American Alumni (AAA) Reunion was rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6. There will be a cookout to cure the hunger brought on by the activities planned.

In addition to the live entertainment scheduled, a performance presented by the Ebony Players Theatre Ensemble has also been added.

The Ebony Players are an African American Theatre Ensemble at UWG that began during the 1960s and was revitalized this semester by Sandtrice Denise Russell and Desmond E. Dodson of the Black Student Alliance (BSA).

The ensemble will perform a play titled “It Ain’t About You.” This play was written by Russell and takes a look into the life of a girl who has encountered an incident of sexual assault. Performers in the production are Shanika Robbins, Perlisha Jones, Whitney Smith, and Tory Thurman.

Admission to the event is $20 and includes lunch and a t-shirt. For more information on the Ebony Players contact the Black Student Alliance at 678-839-6528, and for information concerning the AAA reunion contact the Alumni Services and Development at 770-836-6582.
