3rd Annual Young Artists Exhibit October 4, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - Some of the best young artists in the region will have a chance to display their creative work in the third annual West Georgia Young Artist’s Exhibition sponsored by University of West Georgia from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 24. Kindergarten through 12th grade teachers in the West Georgia area are being asked to submit their students’ best work to be judged by the UWG art department faculty. All work that is submitted will be awarded a certificate and some of the winning artwork will be purchased by the College of Education and the Art Department to be permanently put on display in those buildings. The top two winners in each category — high school, middle school, and elementary school — will receive $50 awards and a ribbon. The event will be held in UWG’s Education Center main hallway. All the artwork will be on display from Oct. 24 to Dec. 3. “Because UWG is a cultural center for the entire West Georgia region, we want to help make the arts part of the curriculum in public schools, and reward and encourage good art produced in our region,” said Bruce Bobick, chair and professor in the art department.
