CARROLLTON,
GA - Four former student-athletes were inducted into the University of West Georgia Athletic Hall of Fame during the annual Alumni Awards
Luncheon. The inductees were Mantevius ‘Fat’ Jackson, Sam
Roark, Schwanda Walker, and Chris Williams. Pictured are (L-R) Schwanda
Walker-Jackson, a four-year starter for the UWG women’s basketball
team; Jerry and Melba Roark, accepting the award for their son, the late
Sam Roark, a 1991 Gulf South Conference Champion in cross country and
a former UWG Male Athlete of the Year; Mantevius ‘Fat’ Jackson,
the leading scorer on UWG’s 1997 NCAA tournament team; and Shana
Williams, accepting for her husband Chris Williams, an All-American football
player in 1997 and 1998 for back-to-back GSC title teams.
