Mosaics Course offered

CARROLLTON, GA - The Department of Continuing Education at University of West Georgia will offer classes in Mosaics Oct. 18 and 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Helen Helwig, a commercial mosaic artist, will conduct the classes.
Helwig’s work is featured at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in downtown Carrollton where she, as part of the city’s recent Mega Festival, built a mosaic bench in front of the center, said Lauri Thompson, computer specialist in the Department of Continuing Education. “If you get a chance drive by there,” Thompson said. “She had everybody that came to the festival put a piece on the bench. It’s truly a work of art. Her work is unbelievable”
The classes will be in Adamson Hall on Front Campus Drive of UWG. The cost is $59 for the course. For more information on the class and other classes offered by the department, contact the Department of Continuing Education at 678-839-6611.
