Noises Off Theatre Performances October 1, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - “Bang, Bang, Bang. Bang, you’re on. Bang, you’ve said it. Bang, you’re off. That’s farce. That’s theatre. That’s life.” Andrea Washington, in charge of publicity for the University of West Georgia’s Theatre Company, used this line to sum up the group’s first play of the season, “Noises Off.” The show will be presented on the main stage of the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Oct 6-9, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 10, at 2:30 p.m. “Noises Off,” a comedy by Michael Frayn, is a farce based on the chaos of community theatre. The performance revolves around a theatre troupe in England that is trying desperately to produce a play called “Nothing On.” Things are not going well for the cast, as they are running out of both time and patience. With disputes, confusion and an arsenal of slapstick comedy, “Noises Off” explores whether this zany group will be able to pull the show (and themselves) together before opening night. “If you enjoy laughing and live theatre,” says Washington, “you will definitely enjoy this show.” Tickets are on sale now in the Townsend Center. General admission is $10 and students with their UWG I.D. will receive free admission. -30- |
