CARROLLTON,
GA - Caning Class Set
The University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education
will have a class on the art of caning from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday,
Nov. 4. The chair caning classes will meet in the Continuing Education
classroom in Adamson Hall. The fee is $44 and a supply fee of $35 payable
to the instructor on the day of the course. For more information on this

Yoga
Classes
The University of West Georgia Department of Continuing Education
is offering a Yoga class beginning Thursday, Nov. 6 and meeting on subsequent
Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. The cost is $79 per person. For more

UWG Waring lecture
The Anthropology Department and the Antonio J. Waring Anthropology Endowment
of the University of West Georgia will play host to Dr. Kathleen
Deagan, Distinguished Research Curator of Archeology at the Florida Museum
of Natural History. Deagan will present a public lecture entitled, “Archaeology
at Columbus’ First American Town: La Isabela 1493-1498” at
7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, in Kathy Cashen Hall on the first floor of the
Humanities Building. Deagan will also present a classroom lecture at 9
a.m. in room 1-303 of the TLC building discussing 30 years of archaeology
in St. Augustine. After this lecture, she will meet with anthropology
students at a noon reception in room 304 of the Pafford Building. For

Fall
2004 Colloquium
The University of West Georgia History Department is sponsoring
a 2004 Colloquium on Monday, Oct. 25. In attendance will be Dr. David
Gleeson author of “The Famine Irish in the South.” This event
will be located at the TLC building in room 1203, from 9-10 a.m. An informal
discussion will also be held titled “An Irish Student in the Most
Southern Place on Earth.” The discussion will be located in the
Pafford Building, room 202 from 10:30 a.m. –noon. For more information

Education
forum
The University of West Georgia College of Education will sponsor
at ‘Soul in Education” forum from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on the
UWG campus. The event is $10 and lunch is included and registration is
required. The forum will include lectures from Dr. Nel Noddings, a professor
of philosophy and education at Teachers College, Columbia University and
Dr. Lee L. Jacks, professor of child education at Stanford University.
The forum will especially help K-12 teachers, higher education faculty,
school administrators, and counselors. For information on registration
