UWG Cheerleader recognized October 27, 2004 CARROLLTON,
GA - Brittni Westfall, a new cheerleader for the Braves at the University of West Georgia, was named Cheerleader of the Month in the August edition
of American Cheerleader magazine. As a child, Brittni spent six years as a competitive gymnast, which helped prepare her for cheerleading. By the time she began her freshman year at North Gwinnett High School, she was cheering for the JV and Varsity competition squads. As a junior, Brittni tried out for and earned a flyer position with the all-star team, Pro Cheer. As a freshman, she had an adjustment period at UWG, but she has gotten in the rhythm of school life. “So far, I have really enjoyed the college life at UWG. As much yelling, pain and frustration we all go through at cheerleading practice, it’s actually something I really enjoy here at West Georgia. I am glad that I chose to attend this college,” she said. Brittni also admits that college is more difficult than high school. “I do find it more difficult to juggle school and cheerleading now that I’m at UWG. The school work here is more difficult and time-consuming.” When Brittni isn’t studying or cheering, she enjoys running with her teammates and hanging out with friends. On the weekends when she isn’t too busy cheering, she goes home to be with her family. In addition to being featured on the cover of American Cheerleader, Brittni has also received a $1,000 scholarship from the magazine and sponsors Bonne Bell and Soffe. -30- |
