Beauty and the Beast opens Townsend Center SeasonOctober 18, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA -There is still time to purchase tickets for Beauty and the Beast, the Oct. 20 season opener for the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts at the University of West Georgia. The one-hour play, performed by the renowned Birmingham Children’s Theatre, is classic literature on stage and perfect for all ages, said Robert Jennings, director of the Townsend Center. “It’s live theatre with lush costumes and beautiful sets,” said Jennings. “Children get so involved with the actors and the story. The main stage theater does not have a bad seat in the house and the intimate space is perfect for the little ones. It’s a wonderful and engaging experience.” The curtain goes up for Beauty and the Beast at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the performance are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for UWG students and $3 for children. The Townsend Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 17th season on campus in Carrollton. Season ticket subscriptions are discounted and available at the box office.
