Mr & Mrs. A DAYOctober 4, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Students, are you ready to be a R.E.A.L. supporter of the University of West Georgia? The Recruiting Emerging Alumni Leaders student alumni association, along with the student leadership organization Omicron Delta Kappa, will sponsor the annual Mr. and Ms. A DAY fundraiser this fall. Charlotte Maumus, student coordinator of R.E.A.L., says, “The Mr. and Ms. A DAY fundraiser is a great way for students to give back to West Georgia. Since money for scholarships doesn't come from the state, A DAY is a campaign to encourage support from the whole West Georgia community.” This annual event is a way for the student body to collect donations to support the A DAY for West Georgia campaign, which raises money for scholarships and other scholarly activities that touch just about all UWG students in some way. Student organizations are encouraged to nominate at least one male and female. Containers with the nominee’s picture, name and organization are placed on a table during the dates of the fund-raiser. The male and female nominees with the most money in their container at the end of the week are “elected” as the official Mr. and Ms. A DAY. Voting begins at the Homecoming football game, Saturday, Oct. 8. Students will be able to vote again from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 11-13 in front of the UCC. Mr. and Ms. A DAY will be recognized at the A DAY for West Georgia breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 20. “Please encourage your organization’s members to vote by placing money in their containers. It’s all about students helping students – and leading by example,” Maumus says.
