Robert E. Lee-Shades of GrayOctober 20, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - Civil War history buffs will be entertained with the upcoming two-evening spotlight on General Robert E. Lee at the Townsend Center for Performing Arts at the University of West Georgia. A two-act play, Robert E. Lee-Shades of Gray, will be performed on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7:30 p.m. and interested patrons may dine with the actor the evening before during Supper with the General on Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Dugan’s feature films include Kindergarten Cop, Ghostbusters II and The Naked Gun. He has been a frequent guest on such TV hits as Just Shoot Me, Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Practice. In Supper with the General, Dugan and guests will dine on a catered southern meal of fried chicken and baked ham served on the main stage at the Townsend Center. After dinner, Dugan will talk with guests about the play and his acting career. In Robert E. Lee–Shades of Gray, he will show the personal side of a general who spent more years as a university president than as a Civil War general. Dugan said audiences are always surprised when they see his play. “There are a lot of misconceptions about General Lee
out there,” he explained. “He was patriotic and against slavery.
He was against the idea of civil war. People will be surprised how much
they’ve learned and how much they laughed after seeing this play.”
