A DAY Wrap-upOctober 25, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - “Your dollars, your time, your energy and your support make the difference,” Dr. Beheruz Sethna, University of West Georgia president, told volunteers at the A DAY kick off breakfast as they prepared to solicit donations to the university’s fundraising campaign.
Over the past 23 years, 4,000 community and campus volunteers have helped make A DAY successful by raising more than $18.5 million. This year, another successful year, there was much to celebrate as Fred O'Neal, 2005 A DAY chair, unveiled a total of $2,129,942 donated to the University of West Georgia annual fund. More than 250 community and campus volunteers solicited area businesses for private funding which provides programs of excellence in areas of faculty development, students scholarships, advanced technology and enhanced academic programs. O’Neal is very pleased with the outcome and is thankful
to the Carroll County community for all their support and hard work. Dr. Andy Leavitt, associate vice president for Development and Alumni Relations, said, “This year’s A DAY was a tremendous success and we are delighted to receive this level of support from the community. A DAY would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of its volunteers.” Several components make up the year-long fund raising efforts. The faculty/staff drive resulted in more than $82,000 in contributions and this year’s RUN for A DAY, sponsored by West Georgia National Bank, raised more than $4,000. A student directed contest, Mr. and Ms. A DAY, brought in approximately $300. -30- |
