One in Four Presentation

November 17, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - One in Four, a peer-educator group of volunteer male students at the University of West Georgia, will give a presentation about sexual assault on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. in the University Community Center, Room 204.

One in Four, which is modeled after a pioneer peer-educator program at the University of Virginia, educates UWG students about such topics as the laws concerning sexual assault, sexual decision-making, sexually transmitted diseases, birth control and alcohol abuse. The group also focuses on developing understanding and empathy for victims, and open discussion is encouraged.

“One in Four has designed educational programs to help both men and women understand some of the factors which contribute to sexual assault so that we can work toward eliminating it,” explained Dr. Melanie McClellan, vice president for student services and dean of students.

For more information about One in Four, contact Health Educator Debra Dugan at 770-836-6452.
