World AIDS Day Observed at UWG November 18, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia will observe World AIDS Day on Monday, Dec. 1, with activities to promote awareness of the disease. Throughout the day, beginning at 10 a.m., Health Services will sponsor a variety of events. There will be an AIDS Quilt located on the top floor of the University Community Center (UCC). Students will have the opportunity to create their own square that will be integrated into the quilt for display on campus. Representatives from AIDS Awareness Atlanta will be located in the UCC from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m to conduct AIDS tests with results available in just 20 minutes. Other educational materials will also be available in the UCC. World AIDS Day began in 1988 to provide an opportunity for organizations, governments and individuals worldwide to display solidarity in combating the AIDS epidemic.
