Starving Student Artist Auction

CARROLLTON,
GA - University of West Georgia art major Alyssa Wessinger from
Douglasville gets some sculpting tips from Cameron Covert, professor of
art, as she prepares 
pieces
for the Starving Student Artists’ Auction scheduled for Friday,
Nov. 21. The event begins at 6 p.m. in the Food Services Building (Z-6)
on campus with a silent auction where all works will be displayed. Dinner
will be served at 7 p.m. during the live auction. Sponsored by the UWG
Alumni Association, the proceeds will benefit the student artists, the
Department of Art Scholarship Endowment Fund, and the Alumni Association
Endowment Fund. According to Barbara Tanner, UWG alumna and chairman of
the event, the Alumni Association wanted to sponsor the art auction to
give art students some public exposure and allow the community to see
the talent of UWG students. The auction and dinner cost $15 per person.
