Professor Awarded for Educational Excellence November 13, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - Dr. Jorge Gaytan, business education professor at the University of West Georgia, has been awarded the 2003 Faculty Teaching Award for Educational Excellence in Teaching for his role at the Richards College of Business. The Faulty Teaching Award for Educational Excellence is decided by a committee of department chairs in all academic areas. Gaytan currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in administrative systems and business education. He also serves as Director of Business Education. In 2002, Gaytan was recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, an achievement that only five percent of teachers in the United States are honored with each year. “Dr. Gaytan is always very highly rated by his students,” said Dr. Tom Padgett, Department Chair of Management and Business Systems. Gaytan also has a strong presence in the Carroll County community. He is a soccer coach at the City of Carrollton Recreational Department and an assistant little league coach with the Carroll County Recreation Department. In addition to sports activities, Gaytan is a “Learning Buddy” at Carrollton Elementary School, a program that encourages elementary school students to become successful.
