Student Receives Economic Scholarship

CARROLLTON,
GA - Melanie George (r), an international economics affairs major at the
University of West Georgia, was awarded the Atlanta Economics Club
annual scholarship for 2003-04.
This scholarship is awarded annually to the most outstanding economics
student in the Atlanta area and George is the first UWG student to ever
receive this highly competitive scholarship. George, a Carrollton High
School graduate, has received a number of other awards while pursuing
her studies at West Georgia including the Thomas Herndon Award and the
Hugh G. Richards Scholarship. She is currently president of the UWG Student
Honors Council. She has also been active in undergraduate research and
will be presenting the results of her research on the Impact of SARS on
the Chinese Economy at the National Collegiate Honors Council. George
received her scholarship award from Jennifer Echols (l), president of
the Atlanta Economics Club.
