Economic Education Workshop

November 13, 2003

CARROLLTON, GA - The Center for Economic Education at the University of West Georgia will observe International Education Week by sponsoring a Wide World of Trade workshop for teachers on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

According to Dr. Leland Gustafson, director of the center, Wide World of Trade is a book of lesson plans ideal for anyone teaching about the globally interdependent world in which we live. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book, the newest publication of the National Council on Economic Education.

The workshop, to be held in Room 119 of the Education Center, is designed for social studies teachers, student teachers, and staff development leaders. Dinner in the Presidential Dining Room of the Food Service Building will feature Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, UWG president, who will present: A Historic/Economic Perspective of Conflict on the Indian Sub-Continent.

The Center for Economic Education provides courses and workshops on economics for teachers. The Center is a cooperative effort of UWG’s College of Education and the Richards College of Business.

Support for this program is provided by the National Council on Economic Education through a grant provided by the United States Department of Education, in coordination with the United States Department of State.

For more information on the workshop and dinner, contact Gustafson at 770-836-6477 or lvg@westga.edu or Dr. Judy Butler, assistant director of the center, at 770-838-3183 or jbutler@westga.edu.
