Jazz Performance November 5, 2004 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia Jazz Ensemble and the Department of Music’s Big Band will perform Friday, Nov. 12, at 8 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. Directed by pianist and professor Dr. Daniel Bakos, the band will play pieces made famous by the Count Basie Band and others. Selections will include “Vine Street Rumble,” “The Wiggle Walk,” and “Rompin’ At The Reno” by Benny Carter. Also being performed are “Nuyorican Son” by Christopher Washburne, “Breakthrough” by John Fedchock, “Empty Ballroom Blues” by Oliver Nelson, “Stormy Weather” by Harold Arlen/Jerry Nowak, “I Lost My Sugar” by Quincy Jones and “Satin Doll” by Ellington & Strayhorn/Gerald Wilson.
