Novemeber 30, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - The Department of Anthropology at the University of West Georgia is pleased to announce a new scholarship sponsored by the Antonio J. Waring, Jr. Anthropology Endowment.

Applications are available for several $2,000 Waring Anthropology Scholarships to support undergraduate students who major in Anthropology at UWG. These are competitive awards based upon academic achievement and potential for scholarly growth.

Applications are accepted from high school seniors who plan to attend UWG, students who transfer to UWG from other colleges or universities, and current students at UWG. The application deadline is March 17, 2006.

UWG is one of two Departments of Anthropology in the University System of Georgia that offers a degree with a major in Anthropology. UWG anthropology professors include archaeologists, socio-cultural anthropologists and a primatologist who all teach a broad range of anthropology courses and engage students in exciting undergraduate field research projects.

UWG anthropology students enjoy small classes with seminar-style instruction and many special opportunities for educational enrichment.
