November 30, 2005

CARROLLTON, GA - The UWG Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will present a Holiday Choral Concert on Sunday, December 4, at 3 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.

Under the direction of Dr. Kevin Hibbard, chair and professor of music, the Concert Choir will sing a wide range of traditional carols, contemporary compositions and Christmas spirituals, including “African Noel” and “Glory, Hallelujah to the Newborn King.” Contemporary compositions include “Out of the Orient Crystal Skies” and John Rutter’s “What Sweeter Music.”

The Chamber Singers will perform Conrad Susa’s “Let Us Gather Hand in Hand” and a neo-Renaissance setting of “Gaudete.” On the lighter side, the Chamber Singers will perform such familiar classics as “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “The Christmas Song” and the humorous “Variations on Jingle Bells” that incorporates styles from calypso to Mozart.
