Development & Alumni Introduces New Associate Director December 3, 2003 CARROLLTON, GA - The Office of Development and Alumni Services at the University of West Georgia announces the appointment of Gregory Brett as associate director effective December 1. Prior to this position, Brett was self-employed as a marketing consultant with MMI Consulting Group, Inc. of Stone Mountain. From 2000-2003 he was the managing editor of The Christian Index and served as vice president for development at Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland from 1993-2000. Brett also brings public relations experience from his position as Public and Corporate Relations Director at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes from 1986-1993. Scott Huffman, interim vice president for University Advancement, said, “Greg will be a fine addition to our staff. He has extensive higher education fund raising experience and is very familiar with philanthropy in Georgia.” As the vice president for development at Truett-McConnell College, Brett established 16 new scholarship endowments, developed the first successful capital campaign for $4.125 million and increased annual fund returns from $9,000 to $200,000 annually. While at the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes, Brett aided in the solicitation for a $15 million capital campaign, secured corporation and foundation grants totaling approximately $100, 000, and developed the “Mile of Pennies” campaign that raised approximately $300,000 in four years. Brett’s philanthropic involvement extends to several charitable organizations which include: Georgia Residential Child Care Agency, Governor’s P-16 Initiatives, Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Georgia, “A New Georgia” campaign for Governor Sonny Perdue, and National League for Families. Brett earned a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Georgia Southern University, and is a candidate for the Masters of Science in technology management from Mercer University. Brett is the father of three children, Taylor, Duncan and Anna Claire. His hobbies include writing, photography, gardening, golfing, cycling, hiking, and water and snow skiing.
