Fall Graduation CeremoniesDecember 13, 2005 CARROLLTON, GA - The University of West Georgia will conduct Fall Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 9:30 a.m. for the Graduate School and the undergraduates of the Richards College of Business and at 1 p.m. for the undergraduates for the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Education. Both ceremonies will be conducted on campus at the HPE building. Dr. Thomas J. Hynes, vice president for Academic Affairs, will preside. Speakers for the ceremonies will be outstanding students selected by each College to represent their academic area. Joshua Grant will represent the College of Arts and Sciences, Graduate School. He will receive the Master of Art degree in English next summer. He lives in Carrollton and is the son of Jim Grant and Lavada Harris of Carrollton. The Richards College of Business, Graduate School speaker will be Rebecca Herren who graduates with the Master of Professional Accounting degree. Later this month, she will begin employment with Rayburn, Bates and Fitzgerald Public Accounting Firm in Nashville, TN. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph N. Herren of Rome. Representing the College of Education, Graduate School will be Scott Fortes, receiving the Doctor of Education in School Improvement degree. He teaches physical education at Woodstock Elementary School and lives in Talking Rock with his wife, Christy, and two children, Madison and Rhett. Amber N. Aiken will represent the Richards College of Business as the undergraduate speaker. She will receive the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics and Finance next spring. She is currently employed with Tisinger, Tisinger, Vance and Greer law firm in Carrollton. She is the daughter of Bennet and Gail Aiken from Flowery Branch. The College of Arts and Sciences undergraduate speakers will be Margaret Griffin and Olanrewaju Jimoh. Griffin will receive the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Art Education next spring. She is the daughter of Michael and Mary Griffin of Canton. Jimoh will receive the Bachelor of Science degree in Biology next spring. He is the son of Adebayo and Omobolanle Jimoh of Ibadan, Nigeria. The College of Education undergraduate speakers will be Michelle Kirby and Elizabeth McMichen. Kirby will receive the Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education next spring. She is currently employed at Dixie Converting Corporation and lives in Carrollton with her two children, Carrie Richardson and Brittany Kirby. McMichen will receive the Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education next spring. She resides in Dallas with her husband, Nathan. Assisting Hynes during the ceremonies will be Dr. Jack Jenkins, graduate school dean; Dr. Sandra Stone, associate vice president for Academic Affairs; Dr. Faye McIntyre, dean of the Richards College of Business; Dr. Kent Layton, dean of the College of Education; Dr. David White, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Dr. Don Wagner, dean of the Honors College. -30- |
