Personal

Hello and Welcome !!

I have been associated with the University of West Georgia since 1968; I was an undergraduate from 1968 till 1970 when I graduated with a B.A. in Physics.  From 1973 to 1976 I was in the MBA program.  From 1988 till 1993 I served in the Department of Continuing Education.  I returned to the Richards College of Business the Fall of 1996 after serving on the faculty of Texas A&M-Commerce in Commerce, Texas, formerly East Texas State University, for two years.

My family and I live in Carrollton, Georgia. My wife, Agatha, retired from the Computer Information Systems Department at Southwire Company. When my responsibilities at West Georgia allow, I enjoy working around the house, attending college football games, taking family trips, and spending time with my family. I have been married for 36 years to Agatha and have two children, Brian and Beth.

Our son Brian graduated from the University of Georgia.  He is a Business Analyst for International Paper in Memphis Tennessee.  He is married to Ann Tatum of Germantown, Tennessee and they live in Memphis, Tennessee.  Ann is a Pediatrician and has her practice in Memphis.  Our daughter Beth also graduated from the University of Georgia majoring in telecommunications.  Beth earned her Master of Education in Media Technology from the University of West Georgia.  She is married to Michael Cater of Carrollton, GA and she teaches media technology at the Heard County Elementary School in Franklin, Georgia.  Michael is the band director at Heard County High School.

In addition to my duties here at the University of West Georgia, my son Brian Lankford and I have a consulting service specializing in creating, setting up, and maintaining database-driven web sites for on-line customer information retrieval systems.  For more information go to Lankford Consulting.  Brian, Beth, Agatha and I also own and manage timberland in Clinch County Georgia.  For more information go to Lankford Properties, L.L.C.

If you have any questions concerning any of the courses that I teach, or my research interests, please do not hesitate to contact me.  For more information go to William Lankford Vita.
