Workshops

If campus closes for any reason, the Writing Center closes as well and no workshops occur. If you have an appointment, please call us the following day at 678-839-6513 to reschedule. If we reschedule workshops, the information will be posted on this page.

Worshop Schedule

From Oct 13 onwards, Writing Skills will now be at 5:30 in the same room. Due to poor attendance on Wednesdays, workshops will now only occur on Tuesdays.

  • Tues, Oct 13: No Workshop this week
  • Tues, Oct 20: Formatting according to MLA
  • Tues, Oct 27: Quote Format, Integration, and Avoiding Plagiarism
  • Tues, Nov 3: Six Common Comma Mistakes
  • Tues, Nov 10: Active vs Passive Voice and Subject-Verb Agreement
  • Tues, Nov 17: TBA
  • For Newnan students: A final Regents session, if you cannot make it to the main UWG campus, will be held in Newnan in GEC 2106 on Thursdays from 12:30 - 1 pm.

    Workshop FAQs

    What are they?

    Workshops are large group sessions that address the Regents Test or a specific element of writing such as commas, quotations, introductions, etc. They are conducted by a Writing Center staff member.

    Where are they?

    The workshops on Tuesdays are in TLC 1301.

    When are they?

    Workshops occur most Tuesdays at 5:30.

    For Newnan students: A final Regents session, if you cannot make it to the main UWG campus, will be held in Newnan in GEC 2106 on Thursdays from 12:30 - 1 pm.

    You must RSVP before you come the first time in the Writing Center or online for the workshops. If you have not RSVP'd 24 hours in advance, then the workshop, even if you attend, will not count for your class.

    To RSVP, call us at 678-839-6513, or email us at writing@westga.edu . If you email, please include your 917# and specify the date and time of the workshop you will attend.

    Who can come?

    Any West Georgia student may attend.
