Associate Professor of Theatre--Head of Design


Brad Darvas is currently the Head of Design of Theatre at the University of West Georgia, specializing in Scenic Design, Props, and Special Makeup Effects.  Brad is a graduate from Wayne State University, where he received his MFA in Scenic Design and Technical Direction for the Theatre. While at Wayne, Brad studied under the mentorship of Russian Designer, Larry Kaushansky. Also while at Wayne, Brad had the opportunity to study scenic design and theatre history abroad at the famed Moscow Art Theatre School in Russia.  One of the highlights in his studies in Russia, was the time he spent with 3 of Russia's most prominant and accomplished scenic designers: Eduard Kochergin, Sergei Barkin, and the late Oleg Shentis. 

 In addition to scenic design for the theatre, Brad works as a professional special makeup effects artist for television and film in the Atlanta metro area. In 2013, Brad opened his own business,  Brad Darvas Designs, specializing in display edition, latex masks, silicone and resin busts, as well as makeup effects services.
