Biography
Dr. Christy Land is an Assistant Professor in The Communication Sciences and Professional Counseling Department at The University of West Georgia. Dr. Land, as a previous practicing school counselor for fourteen years, has extensive experience at the elementary and middle school levels. Dr. Land was named Georgia Middle School Counselor of the Year by the Georgia School Counselor Association in 2013 and her middle school received RAMP designation from the American School Counselor Association in 2014. Dr. Land also numerous years’ experience in clinical private practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor working primarily with children and adolescents and providing educational consultation to parents, and clinical supervision to counselors working towards licensure. Her areas of expertise include bullying prevention, stress and anxiety management with children/adolescents, group counseling, and supervision. Dr. Land recognizes the unique position counselors hold to advocate for equity, access, and success for individuals, communities, and schools.
