Assistant Professor

Biography

Dr. Christi Fain is an assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of West Georgia. Before joining the faculty and staff at UWG, Christi worked at the University of North Georgia. She received her doctoral degree in Special Education from the Georgia State University (2013) where she worked as a clinical instructor while pursuing her degree. Prior to that, she worked for five years as a behavior disorders teacher in a psycho-educational center for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders (SEBD) and 2 years in a residential treatment facility for children with SEBD. Her educational degrees include a B.S. in Therapeutic Recreation and a M.Ed. in Behavior/Learning Disabilities from Georgia State University.

 

Dr. Fain’s service activities include active memberships in Learning Disabilities Worldwide (LDW), Council for Exceptional Children Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders (CCBD), Council for Exceptional Children Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD), Council for Exceptional Children Teacher Education Division (TED), Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics (GCTM), and National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). She is actively involved in committees at the university and works closely with residential treatment facilities in the community.  Dr. Fain’s research interests include academic and behavioral interventions for students with mild disabilities and pre-service teacher perceptions and understandings. She has given professional, scholarly, and workshop presentations locally and abroad.
