Colleagues,

It is my privilege to announce the naming of Scott McElroy as the University of West Georgia's Vice President for Business and Financial Services and Chief Business Officer, effective May 1.

Scott McElroy

Scott will join us from The Coca-Cola Company, where he served in multiple financial leadership roles for more than two decades. As CBO, Scott will provide strategic leadership related to our institution’s business administration and financial operations, including oversight of the university’s auxiliary enterprises such as Dine West and the UWG Bookstore.

I am thankful for the team of faculty and staff – led by Dr. Jon Preston, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs – who conducted the nationwide search that resulted in Scott’s appointment. As a proven leader who has a demonstrated record of advancing and elevating the business units he has led, we are eager for his thought-partnership and expertise as we remain committed to the curation of a first-choice university for all our stakeholders.

Scott had this to say about Going West:

“I am so excited to join the University of West Georgia as Chief Business Officer. I have been very impressed by the innovative spirit and commitment I witnessed in discussions to understand our plans to become a first-choice university. I look forward to working with the campus and community to contribute to the culture of excellence, innovation, and resiliency we seek in order to drive the best outcomes for all our stakeholders.”

In Scott’s more than 20 years of experience with The Coca-Cola Company, he served as Chief Financial Officer of the global Freestyle Business Unit and Innovation Center, driving improved customer and company financial performance on new and sustaining product lines worldwide. A graduate of the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University, he also completed a program for prospective CFOs at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

We are eager to bring Scott on board in the coming weeks and connect him across campus and the communities we serve as he begins in his new role.

Thank you for your commitment to UWG, and be well.
