Biography

Dr. Phyllis Robinson Snipes is Professor of Media/School Library Media in the College of Education and teaches fully online graduate courses in the Department of Educational Technology & Foundations. Her professional activties include development of a statewide School Librarian Evaluation Instrument for media specialist evaluation, and her research focuses on technology integration and student use and teacher preparation for implementation of the state of Georgia’s GALILEO databases in P-12 instruction. Publications include distribution of information about the standards-based evaluation instrument for library media specialists and an overview of methods for authority control using Sears/Dewey classification and genre organization within a school media center. Prior to her appointment at UWG, Dr. Snipes served as a district media coordinator, teacher, and media specialist in Georgia public schools for 30 years and taught as adjunct faculty at UWG and GA State University for 17 years.
