Biography

Alex Sutton is Assistant Director of Choirs and Instructor of Music at the University of West Georgia, where he conducts the Concert Choir and teaches first- and second-year aural skills, music appreciation, and choral methods. He previously served as a doctoral teaching assistant at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where conducted the UC Women’s Chorus, taught courses in music education and conducting, and managed all administrative aspects of the university’s campus choral program. Prior to doctoral studies, Sutton taught at Tecumseh (MI) High School and was on the conducting staff of the Boychoir of Ann Arbor. An advocate for pre-collegiate summer programs, he has recently served on the conducting faculties of the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain and the MPulse Vocal Arts Institute at the University of Michigan. Sutton studied conducting and music education at the University of Cincinnati and the University of Michigan.
