Biography

Brett obtained his B.A. in Political Science / International Affairs at Mercer University and his M.S. in Multilingual-Multicultural Education at FSU. Shortly after, he began teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) at FSU. In 2000, he received a Fulbright Grant to Belgium as an assistant at the University of Antwerp and conducted his own research on the multi-lingual policies and attitudes in Belgium.  He went on to teach EFL for the Samsung Corporation in Seoul, Korea and later served in director positions in San Antonia, TX and Savannah, GA before joining Clayton State University as its 1st international services director. In 2014, he moved to Georgia State University as Associate Director of ISSS and joined the University of West Georgia in late 2018. He has served in leadership roles with Region VII of NAFSA and the USG Office of International Education. Brett speaks French fluently, a little Spanish, and has visited or worked in more than 30 countries. Brett enjoys travel, fitness, the outdoors, live music and is dedicated to supporting international students at UWG from all walks of life.
