What is a “Point of Pride”?
A Point of Pride can be any accomplishment for anyone affiliated with the University of West Georgia. Several examples could be:
- The College of Science and Mathematics at the University of West Georgia received over $1 million in grant awards from the Georgia Space Grant Consortium-NASA, the National Science Foundation and the Math and Science Partnership of the Georgia Department of Education, all during September.
- Economics students from the University of West Georgia Richards College of Business recently won first place in the Rockonomix National Contest for the spring 2014 semester. The winning video for the spring 2014 semester was a parody of the popular Sara Bareilles song “Brave,” created by Nick Hoang, Leo Rodriguez, Jessica Brown, Rebekka Arocho, Austin Crider, Derek Brunson, Mark Arnold and Justin Daniels. Student Samantha Bush performed the lyrics in the video.
- University of West Georgia alumna Dr. Ardith Bates ’97 has been named Georgia’s Middle Level 2014 National Distinguished Principal. The honor is by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the United States Department of Education.
But accomplishments could be from any school, for any student, staff, faculty member or alumnus, ranging from personal to professional accomplishments. And could range from quirky to normal awards that are often received.
We want to hear from you about your accomplishments, large and small. We want you to share accomplishments with us and we will let the world know all the amazing things that happen at the University of West Georgia.
These points of pride will be featured in a new Campus Pride section on Perspective Online or by the Office of the President.
To share accomplishments with us, all we need is a little bit of information.
