Since we announced Operation Protect Our Pack, the purpose has been to engage our entire community as partners to help support a safe and vibrant learning environment.

We care deeply about the safety of all members in our UWG family and surrounding Carrollton community, so UWG has partnered with city and county law enforcement officials to help address safety concerns that disrupt our commitment to fostering a caring, safe, and inclusive campus community.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the focus of Operation Protect Our Pack?

Crime, and everything that goes along with it, disrupts campus life and diminishes the education experience for our students. We will not tolerate an environment where crime is accepted and threatens the health, safety, and well-being of our students. We will work to maintain UWG's place as one of the state's safest universities by eliminating crime on and around campus.

  • What tactics will Operation Protect Our Pack employ?

Our University Police Department, the Carrollton Police Department and the Carroll County Sheriffs Office are joining forces to identify those responsible for violent crimes - including theft, robbery, assault and even murder. This is a serious attempt to suppress crime by eliminating its source. We will investigate these crimes wherever they occur on and around campus and prosecute those responsible.

  • What is the operational goal of Protect Our Pack initiatives?

While our goal is stopping the violent crimes, we realize through work with local law enforcement that our efforts must focus on the source of those crimes - the most serious being drug trafficking. Our major goal it to eliminate all drug trafficking, which creates a dangerous, underground economy that fosters conditions where violent crime is more likely to occur. That is what we have seen in our area. Most of the offenders are not students and have no official ties to UWG. They travel from outside Carrollton to conduct transactions at the apartment complexes. Again, we will not stand by idly and let this activity threaten students, faculty or staff.

  • How do the Protect Our Pack initiatives impact Student Conduct?

The university reserves the right to take necessary and appropriate action to protect the safety and well-being of the campus community. Students will be accountable to both civil and campus authorities.
