Ph.D. Georgia State University M.A. University of Alabama in Huntsville B.A. University of Alabama in Huntsville Julie completed her doctoral work at Georgia State University with a primary focus in post-1945 American fiction and popular culture and a secondary focus in critical theory. She has published her critical work in the journals Critique, The Journal of Popular Culture, and Slayage: The Online Journal of Whedon Studies as well as in two edited collections. Her research investigates the ways in which narrative works to form and maintain subjectivities, and she pulls from this focus in the classroom as well, asking her students to examine the narratives--large and small--that intersect with their lives. Her work now primarily focuses on research development.
