Inhabiting La Patria, a collection of critical essays on the works of Dominican American author Julia Alvarez, is due out in December.
Associate Professor of English Wins National Book Award
The Dale Brown Book Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Anabaptist and Pietist Studies is given annually to an outstanding book in Anabaptist studies. The 2013 recipient of the award is A Harmony of the Spirits: Translation and the Language of Community in Early Pennsylvania (University of North Carolina Press, 2012) by Patrick M. Erben. The book examines how early Pietists in Pennsylvania understood the role of language in spiritual life and in building new communities in the new world.
