University of West Georgia student organizations UWG English Club and LURe are collaborating again to host their second annual book fair and this year it’s even bigger than before. Taking inspiration from the Scholastic Book Fair, popular across elementary schools, the organizers seek to create a nostalgic and fun atmosphere with hundreds of books and book-themed goodies for sale.

After last year’s success, the English Club and LURe hope to expand attendance by attracting not only UWG students but also the wider Carrollton community. This year’s fair will take place outside Ingram Library and span four days, giving everyone plenty of time to shop. Hours are as follows:

  • April 6 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • April 7 and 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All books graciously donated by the UWG community will be priced under $10. Cash, card, Venmo, Cash App and Zelle will be accepted.

The event functions as a fundraiser, with proceeds split between the English Club and LURe to support future events. Both organizations are committed to increasing student engagement and educational opportunities in the UWG School of Humanities. With that mission in mind, the book fair aims to enrich and grow the school’s community while delivering cultural experiences to UWG at large.

There will be a book for everyone at the fair. The club has collected donations since the fall semester and now has around 500 books available. Whether you like mysteries, romances, comic books or philosophy, the fair will offer something for even the pickiest readers.

In the spirit of the Scholastic Book Fair, UWG’s event will offer more than just books. Shoppers will find a range of bookish goods for sale, including stickers, pens and bookmarks. The fair will also feature a live performance by local artist Lunawire on Thursday, April 9 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. a perfect way to wrap up and celebrate the end of a successful sale.
