Object-Oriented Development (OOD) has been touted as the next great advance in software engineering. It promises to reduce develoment time, increase code reuse, and provide a competitive advantage to organizatins that use it. However, there are many pitfalls involved in the OOD process. These pitfalls thereaten to undermind the accemptance and use of OOD before its promises can be achieved. This paper analyzes the various pitfalls of OOD and recommends tactics that can help prevent or avoid these problems.
