Poland: Bridgehead to an Enlarged European Union

Poland is important to other nation's businesses, not only due to its large domestic market, but for its proximity to the European Union as it is currently composed and the anticipated, much enlarged future European Union. Poland is centrally located in Europe between Russia and Germany. Poland is bordered by Belarus, Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. In terms of land area, it is the seventh largest country on the continent. In this article the author provides a number of reasons why companies may find Poland a good market to expand into and the best place from which to serve the already large European Union market, a market widely expected to become much larger in the future as more countries join the Union.
