Art Scholarships and Awards
The Art Program is dedicated to supporting our students. A range of scholarship and award opportunities are available for both admitted incoming freshmen and continuing Art majors.
How do I apply for a scholarship?
- Apply to UWG to be admitted if you have not already.
- Review the requirements carefully for each scholarship in the list below.
- Apply for scholarships through the scholarships portal.
- There is a question that asks you to state the scholarships for which you are applying: Make sure to name each scholarship so that the reviewers can accurately evaluate your materials. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
- Make sure to upload all required materials to the portal with your application.
Portfolios and Essays
Prepare your materials:
- Create your portfolio.
- Upload one compressed .pdf file only.
- Check the scholarship requirements to see if it specifies how many art pieces should be included and if they need to be a particular medium.
- If a scholarship does not list specific portfolio requirements, be sure to select clear examples of your best artwork.
- Only use images that are clear and professional.
- Ensure that your image files are roughly 72 dpi and no more than 1200 pixels in the largest dimension.
Write your essays (if applicable):
- Upload one .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .pdf file only.
- Refer to specific scholarship statement requirements. These requirements are what reviewers are looking to see reflected in your statements/essays.
- Provide relevant information about your academic and personal background.
- If a scholarship asks for a needs statement, clearly explain why you need funding.
- If a scholarship asks for a self-reflection essay, include details about who you are as a person and as an artist. What are your life goals? How could a scholarship help you meet these goals?
Submit your materials:
- There are two upload slots. You do not need to use both. (Each slot can only hold files up to 25MB.)
- Be sure to compress .pdf files.
- If your portfolio file is larger than 25MB and you are not required to submit an essay, consider splitting your portfolio into two files.
