From artistry forged in fire to global reasoning borne of critical thinking, the College of Arts and Humanities (COAH) is the heart and soul of UWG. We are creators nurtured by imagination. We are the dreamers, thinkers, and visionaries – past and present – who believe creative expression and an open mind are the foundation of every education. We think, write, and create. We are COAH.
Think. Write. Create.

Art
The Department of Art seeks to provide undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities for intellectual, creative, personal, and technical development through quality teaching, scholarly inquiry, creative endeavor, and service for the public good.
Learn MoreInternational Languages and Cultures
The Department of International Languages and Cultures educates students to become better global citizens through instruction in international languages, literature, film, and culture. Through this study, students gain further knowledge of their own language and culture and are able to make informed cultural comparisons.
Learn MoreEnglish & Philosophy
The English Program offers B.A. degrees as well as an M.A. degree in English. We also offer minors in Literature and Creative Writing, and support interdisciplinary minor programs in Film Studies and Africana Studies. In addition to a major and minor in philosophy, both of which are excellent pre-professional areas of concentration, the Philosophy Program offers a concentration in law and both a concentration and a minor in religion.
Learn MoreHistory
Nothing prepares students for the future like a glimpse back into the past, which makes our History department the perfect place to hone your skills in research, critical thinking and writing.
Learn MoreMusic
The Department of Music enriches the cultural life of the West Georgia region, and has an excellent reputation for preparing musicians who seek careers in teaching, performance, and the music industry.
Learn MoreTheatre
Students who participate in drama often experience higher test scores, improved reading comprehension, maintain better attendance records, and stay generally more engaged in school than their non-arts counterparts.
Learn MoreWriting Center
At the University Writing Center, faculty and graduate tutors assist students with all areas of the writing process. We offer free 30-minute and hour-long individual tutorials and welcome students from all disciplines, at any level.
