Students in the Department of Theatre not only act in, and design shows for, the mainstage season, but also write, direct, and publicize their own productions. Taught by a dynamic theatre faculty, who design and direct in Atlanta as well as publish in regional and national venues—students enjoy exciting classes steeped in the latest theatrical trends.

The department is housed in the beautifully renovated and historic Martha Munro building, which contains state-of-the-art equipment in its Computer-Aided Design lab, a sound lab, and a drafting lab. In addition, the acting/directing lab offers a sprung floor and a restored purpose-built proscenium arch. The department also boasts an 8000 square foot rehearsal space and costume shop in  the university’s Old Auditorium and presents its productions in multiple venues on campus, most notably the Townsend Center’s mainstage and black box theater.
