There are many ways to give back to the department that played a big role in where you are now. The Geosciences department prides itself in offering students hands on experience in the field while encouraging them to engage in their discipline by doing research and attending conferences. We are also am exceptionally supportive department, offering numerous scholarships and awards that reward merit and encourage students to excel. Fieldtrips, research, attending conferences, and offering financial support and encouragement comes with a price tag, however. The department is thus extremely thankful for any contributions that you, as an alumnus or alumna, can make.
You may offer a one-time donation that we can plug in where we feel it is most needed or you may choose to contribute to a particular endowed fund, used to sustain particular scholarships and awards. You can find more information on the various funds here. Larger contributions can be made to start a new endowment and could come with perks, like naming a laboratory or a new scholarship. There are many options, so please do not hesitate in getting in touch with our chair, Dr. Jim Mayer, 678-839-4055, firstname.lastname@example.org.
