Application Process

Application Process:

  1. Click the "Apply now" button above, create an account and fill out an application.

  2. Once the university abroad is accepting nominations for exchange students, the Office of Education Abroad (OEA) will contact you to ask if you're committed to going.

  3. Committed students will attend a mandatory orientation before the OEA nominates you. Once nominated, the university abroad will email you an acceptance letter and further steps from there.

  4. Share with us your acceptance email and your predicted classes (number of credit hours and class level) vetted by your academic advisor so we can register you for placeholder classes and in-state tuition.

  5. After officially registering for classes at the university abroad, share with us the syllabi and any other material for each class so we can begin working on finding UWG course equivalencies for your transcript. Once again, you will only register for courses at the university abroad, not at UWG.

  6. Once the semester is over, have the university abroad send us your official transcript so we can confirm your UWG equivalencies and transcript.

Once you complete steps 1-4, you'll be eligible for the study abroad scholarship that our office offers. You'll receive this scholarship after following these steps:

  1. Mark "Yes" on the application question regarding scholarship interest and write a couple sentences about why you'd like this scholarship.

  2. Sign the Scholarship Acceptance Form in your application profile.

  3. Submit documentation of your commitment to the program (plane ticket, housing accommodations, etc.).

Throughout this whole process, communication with us is key. If you fail to respond to us in a timely manner, it could result in you not being nominated for exchange or for your classes abroad to not make it on your UWG transcript.

For specific information about classes, accommodations, or GPA requirements, please contact the universities abroad.

Costs and Scholarships

Costs:

Students studying at our partner universities (all of which are listed in the Academics section) will pay UWG tuition and not tuition at the partner university. In-state tuition and financial aid will apply as normal. Out-of-pocket costs include passport and visa fees, airfare, housing accommodations, meals, books, insurance, and any other living expenses. For information about possible housing accommodations, please contact the university abroad. Insurance is required unless the student submits documentation declining it.

Students are guaranteed at least one scholarship to help pay for program costs. The application for this scholarship is included in the program application. Students who decline to answer this question will not receive the scholarship.
