The nursing study abroad in Foligno, Italy, focuses on preparing nurses to function in a global environment. Students explore the Italian Healthcare and Nursing Education Systems through an immersive cultural and clinical experience.

How Study Abroad Scholarships & Deposits Work:

Scholarships: Awarded study abroad scholarships are credited directly to your UWG financial aid package. Once any existing UWG student account balances are cleared, remaining scholarship funds are disbursed to your linked BankMobile account. From there, you will use those funds to pay your program fee. Scholarships cannot be applied directly to the study abroad balance by our office.

Deposits: Your initial program deposit is credited directly toward your total program fee.

Foligno is in the central part of Italy. During May, the average temperature is 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. However, it can warm up to temperatures over 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Buildings, including lodging, rarely have air conditioning, so students should plan to be in a warm environment. There is occasional rain.

While Foligno is in a valley and mostly flat, the surrounding areas are hilly or even mountainous. Visiting other cities, such as Perugia or Spoleto, requires walking up and down steep inclines. Students will walk to class and meeting locations and should expect to be walking on cobblestones or brick-paved roads, which can be uneven.

Students accepted into the program who anticipate the need for accommodations are encouraged to contact Accessibility Services and the program director as early as possible to discuss potential accommodations and accessibility needs prior to departure.

Program Cost: $3,400

Guaranteed Scholarship: $1,075

A $300 non-refundable deposit is due November 1, 2026.

Payment Schedule

• Deposit: $300 due November 1, 2026 (non-refundable).
• Payment 1: $1,500 due December 15, 2026 (refundable).
• Payment 2: $1,000 due February 1, 2027 (non-refundable).
• Payment 3: $600 due March 1, 2027 (non-refundable).

Additional Costs:

• UWG Tuition (paid separately)
• Touchnet payments include 3% non-refundable fee
• The program provides lunch on arrival day and three group dinners. Students are responsible for all other meals and should anticipate approximately the following costs:
  • Lunch x 9 days ~ 10 euro/$12 = $108
  • Dinner x 7 days ~ 15 euro/$18 = $126
  • Total: $234
• Additional costs students should anticipate that are not part of the program cost:
  • Mini metro ticket from Perugia train station to the city of Perugia: 1.50 euro/$1.75
  • Passport $165 for a new passport; $130 for a renewed passport
  • Travel/activities not included in the program; cost varies on location and type of activity

Important Notes:

• Program spots are generally first-come first-serve. The non-refundable deposit will secure your spot in the program, but if you are not accepted for any reason, then you will be reimbursed. Refunds will not be issued if you withdraw from the program at any point.
• If the program is canceled due to low enrollment, students will receive a refund of their program payments, including non-refundable deposits.
• Lack of visa/passport may result in complete loss of program fee
