Dr. Katy Green, with co-investigators Chelsea Morris and Ye Chen, received a 2022
$6,000 Community Foundation of West Georgia Impact Grant for inclusive coding opportunities
in the Early Childhood Makerspace.
The Early Learning Center received $49,499 to implement Talk With Me Baby, in partnership
with the Emory School of Nursing in 2022.
The Early Learning Center met a $100,000 challenge grant to implement Well Start for
Early Learning in Fall 2021.
The Early Learning Center received a $10,000 donation to develop social-emotional
embedded practice Toddler Toolkits for 20 regional child care providers.
The Early Learning Center received a $19,000 sanitation cabinet and extended warranty
as a donation to ensure the safety and health of children in the UWG preschool program
and a UWG partner, the Comprehensive Community Clinic.
The UWG Preschool Bright from the Start classrooms operated on a full schedule, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, enrolling 32 students.
Applications for 2021-22 school year exceeded available spots.
More than 100 pre-service educators received training and field experience in the
laboratory settings with the preschool students.
The Early Learning Center developed a partnership memorandum for Community Action
for Improvement, Inc. Head Start programs to increase training and support opportunities
across West Georgia, serving more than 300 families.
The Early Learning Center received a subaward of $9,500 from the DECAL 2Gen Innovation
Grant in partnership with Community Action for Improvement, Inc. Head Start to provide
two family night trainings (Trauma-informed parenting; MoneyWise)
The Early Learning Center received $70,000 from DECAL’s Community Transformation Grant
to develop a series of nationally-supported social-emotional resources to support
children’s problem solving skills.
The Early Learning Center received the Sandra Dunagan Deal Center for Early Language
and Literacy Community Impact grant in the amount of $24,000 to bring The BasicsTM
to the West Georgia region’s pediatric office, local schools, and Head Start programs.
The Early Learning Center received the Community Foundation of West Georgia COVID-19
Relief Fund grant to provide supports to those impacted by COVID.
