Honors College Admissions Criteria
Admissions Deadlines:
To be admitted to the Honors College, students must apply by one of the deadline dates listed below:
- Deadline 1 for Fall and Spring Semester: November 1st
- Deadline 2 for Fall Semester: January 15th
- Deadline 3 for Fall Semester: May 1st
Admissions Criteria:
The Honors College seeks students who are motivated by a curiosity about the world, interested in research and creative activity, and committed to doing their best. Students interested in applying to the Honors College must first apply to and be accepted to the University of West Georgia. After receiving admission to the University, students should fill out the appropriate application at the links below.
Incoming First-Year Students - Apply Now!
First-year Student Admission to the Honors College is based on a holistic evaluation of each applicant.
Typically, students admitted to the Honors College have had at least a 3.5 high school GPA, a minimum 1250 SAT composite or 26 ACT composite, have exhibited extra-curricular engagement, and have submitted a high-quality essay. Admission is competitive.
Transfer Applicants - Apply Now!
A Transfer student who wishes to be considered for the Honors College must meet the following minimum criteria:
- 3.2 Transfer GPA
- 15 college credit hours earned
Transfer students who completed Honors coursework at other Honors Programs or Colleges may be eligible to have those Transfer Honors credits used for their UWG Honors College graduation requirements.
Continuing UWG Students - Apply Now!
A current University of West Georgia student who wishes to be considered for the Honors College must meet the following minimum criteria:
- 3.2 Overall GPA
- 15 college credit hours earned
Current UWG students are encouraged to apply to the Honors College before completion of 60 credit hours in order to complete the Honors College graduation requirements.
