BSN Application Process

Step 1: Applying for Admission to UWG

  • CURRENT/CONTINUING S STUDENTS
    • Students who are currently enrolled in coursework at UWG should not apply for readmission but should move on to step
  • NEW/TRANSFERRING STUDENTS
    • Submit an Undergraduate Application for admission to the University of West Georgia (UWG) no later than December 15th.
  • RETURNING UWG STUDENTS
    • Apply for READMISSION through UWG Undergraduate Admissions

Step 2. Apply via Slate

Program Admission Requirements

Minimum requirements to be considered for admission to the THSON BSN program include the following:

  • Must be admitted to UWG through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions or be a currently enrolled student.
  • Must have a nursing core GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale (The nursing GPA is calculated using all completed core coursework applicable to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at UWG. If any of the applicable courses have been repeated, all attempts, including transfer, transient, dual enrollment, etc. are included in this calculation (excluding W’s).

By February 1st, applicants must have minimally completed the following core IMPACTS courses.

  • Communicating in Writing courses
  • ENGL 1101 & 1102
  • Mathematics and Quantitative Skills courses
    • MATH 1111-Coll Algebra, OR 1001-Quant. Skills, OR 1113-PreCalc, OR 1634-Calc AND 1401-Statistics (or MATH 2063)

Two of the following required STEM courses with lab:

  • BIOL 1107 with Lab Principles of Biology I & 1108 with Lab Principle of Biology II
  • CHEM 1151 with Lab Survey of Chemistry I & 1152 with Lab Survey of Chemistry II
  • CHEM 1211 with Lab Principles of Chemistry I & 1212 with lab Principles of Chemistry
  • PHYS 1111 with Lab Introductory Physics I & 1112 with Lab Introductory Physics II

At least one of the following science courses with lab:

  • BIOL 2251 with Lab Anatomy and Physiology I
  • BIOL 2252 with Lab Anatomy and Physiology II
  • BIOL 2260 with Lab Foundations of Microbiology

At least 12 semester hours of equivalent electives from these areas:

  • Political Science, World History, and U.S. History
  • Arts, Humanities, and Institutional Priorities
  • Social Sciences
