Kelly Dyar, Ed.D., RN, CNN, CNE, FANNA

Dr. Dyar joined the Tanner Health School of Nursing Faculty in 204, where she teaches and mentors undergraduate, master's, and doctoral nursing students. She brings over 35 years of nursing experience, with most of her nursing practice in the care of people with kidney disease. She is active in advancing nursing practice, education, and scholarship. Dr. Dyar earned a Diploma of Nursing with honors from Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from the University of Phoenix, a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Samford University, and a Doctor of Education in Nursing Education from the University of West Georgia. As a lifelong learner, she also holds advanced certifications as a Certified Nephrology Nurse, Certified Nurse Educator, Watson Caring Science Institute Caritas Leader, and is a Fellow of the American Nephrology Nurses Association. Dr. Dyar maintains an active program of scholarship focused on nursing education, caring science, qualitative inquiry, and nephrology nursing. Her recent publications include articles in Nurse Educator, Journal of Nursing Education, International Journal for Human Caring, and Nursing Forum, along with collaborative work examining nurse educator preparation, caring science, capstone experiences, and educational assessment. She has also contributed to national and international presentations, educational resources, and scholarly discussions that advance nursing education and practice. During this same period, she has secured funding for several initiatives, including a $3.69 million Health Resources and Services Administration workforce expansion grant to support rural nursing education, a funded American Nephrology Nurses Association research grant examining nephrology nurses' experiences caring for veterans, and support for infection prevention and educational research projects. Through these scholarly activities, Dr. Dyar continues to contribute to the evidence base for nursing education while preparing future nurse leaders, educators, and scholars. Dr. Dyar is a recognized leader and expert in nursing education and practice and is passionate about helping nurses develop as compassionate clinicians, scholars, and leaders while fostering caring, inclusive learning environments that support student success.
