Government and External Relations operates under the Office of the President at the University of West Georgia and handles a wide range of matters of institutional importance on behalf of the President.

One of the principal responsibilities of Government and External Relations is to serve as the president’s primary strategic liaison between local, state, and federal levels of government with the goal of ensuring that our elected officials are informed and aware of the priorities and initiatives of the University of West Georgia.

Additionally, any legislation or policies with a potential impact on the University, either directly or indirectly, through partners or affiliates, higher education as a whole, or the surrounding economic area is also tracked and monitored.

The Government and External Relations liaison, Mr. Russell Crutchfield, serves as an advocate for the University of West Georgia throughout each legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly to advance the priorities of the President, the University of West Georgia, and the University System of Georgia as a whole.
